South Texas College (STC)  will be the lead partner for the digital literacy project in South Texas. STC is a Hispanic Serving Institution ranked as one of the top 100 community colleges in the nation. It ranks number three in the nation for the number of associate degrees awarded to Hispanic students. Using Learner Web software, STC will operate six computer center locations in Hidalgo and Starr counties, working closely with the following community partners:

  • The Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA), serving low-income and un- and underemployed residents

  • Motivation, Education, and Training (MET), providing training for migrant and seasonal farm workers

  • The Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), helping people with disabilities pursue independent and productive lives.

  • Workforce Solutions, connecting youth and adults to jobs, education, and training

  • Parental Involvement groups at several school districts

  • Region One Education Service Center, serving the community through ABE and GED programs

  • Salvation Army
